Washing- Always use a sulfate and paraben free shampoo and conditioner. Ultra hydrating is always our favorite to help keep extensions moisturized. Don't be afraid to gently scrub your scalp and massage along the top of the row. This will help eliminate build up from product and oils.
Styling- Always use a leave-in conditioner, heat protectant and hydrating serum. The hydrating serum will be very beneficial on off wash days. Keep your heat settings on low-medium on your hot tools and keep heat styling to a minimum. Extensions tend to keep their style longer than our natural hair.
Brushing- It is so important to keep your extensions detangled to avoid matting. Separate each row and gently brush out tangles starting from the ends and working your way to the top of the row. It is important to brush over the top of the row, but very gently. Brushing too hard can cause the wefts to come undone at the seam. We recommend brushings 4-5 times a day with a detangle brush or wide tooth comb.
Sleeping- A silk or satin pillowcase is a must! Low pony or braid is great for sleeping. We personally love a silk or satin bonnet to sleep in.
Swimming- Dampen hair with a spray bottle really well and them spray a leave-in conditioner in hair after. This is so important because it coats the hair and protects it from chlorine, minerals, and salt water. We personally love to mix our own conditioner and water in a spray bottle because it is thicker than a traditional leave-in. ALWAYS shampoo and deep condition your hair afterward.
Ponytails- We all love a snatched pony!! But let's not over do it, too much of anything is never good. Be cautious of your side beads when wearing a high pony. Those beads act as your anchor beads and with the additional weight of the extensions, when pulled up to often will cause too much tension on those beads and eventually lead to traction alopecia. We don't want to scare you out of wearing a hight pony, just be smart on how often you wear. If you are a frequent gym user, we recommend low ponytails.
